"Dear Mr. Barna:

 

In response to your thank you letter, I just wanted to share with you my first experience with Hawthorne Chevrolet.

Over the years, certain things that I have experienced in life have been referred to as a "nightmare." In particular, purchasing and/or leasing a new vehicle has always been just that for me. Of course, that changed the day I walked into your pre-owned showroom and met with your salesman, Sonny Librizzi and Business Manager, Keith Todd.

Having been a loyal GM consumer for well over 30 years, GM and I parted ways due to a financial "bumpy patch" I had experienced during 2009, which produced a series of late payments to my account. This matter came to light when my daughter and I visited a competitor prior to coming to Hawthorne Chevrolet. The business manager there, and pretty much all of the dealership business managers I have encountered over the years, all of whom I have un-affectionately nickenamed "the man with the pinky ring," would have been my nightmare realized. No sooner did we walk through the door, and without even getting into specifics, my daughter and I walked out. Mind you, a month earlier my daughter purchased a Malibu from this dealership. Her experience there was not with this person, and needless to say, not quite the experience I had with Hawthorne, something she has expressed regret over.

Fast foward to the following week....

Upon driving up to your dealership, I was greeted by Sonny. I briefly explained what I was looking for and then we walked through the lot. "Two cars were calling my name." At that point, we went inside and got into the specifics. He was soooo helpful and allayed my financing fears. We then met with Keith Todd, who was ever so kind and went beyond my expectations to put me into my '07 Impala.

Keith and Sonny turned my "nightmare" into a dream. Kudos to both of them!

Hawthorne Chevrolet donates $37,000 SUV to Wyckoff Police Department

Wyckoff - Thanks to a donation from a car dealer, the police department got some shiny new wheels this week. 

Wyckoff resident and Hawthorne Chevrolet owner and president Steve Barna donated a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe sport utility vehicle - with an MSRP of $37,280 - to the department.  It is fully equipped, with flashing lights, siren and interior equipment conducive to transporting prisoners.

The vehicle was taken by Chevrolet to trade shows around the country, and purchased by Barna specifically to donate to the township.

In a press release, Mayor Rudolf Boonstra said, "In these difficult economic times for municipalities that present tremendous challenges, it's important that we think outside the box to supply the township with essential equipment that is needed with little or no cost to the taxpayers."

Police Chief Benjamin Fox expressed his gratitude to Hawthorne Chevrolet, which straddles Hawthorne and Wyckoff, for its donation, saying it is "much needed" in the department's fleet of vehicles.

Boonstra went on to say he would like to seek partnerships like the one forged between the township and Hwthorne Chevrolet in as many areas as possible.

Barna said April 16 that the donation is "from the heart."

"We like to support the community that supports us," he said.
