What's New for 2024?
Having recently undergone an overhaul last year with enhancements to its engine and amenities, the new 2024 Silverado 1500 sees little changes to its design. There's a new trim option that has been added called the ZR2 Bison special edition, which is geared for off-roading. Then there's a new Duramax diesel engine offering much more power to the model.

Performance
There are four engine options available for the Silverado 1500. The base powertrain is a turbocharged 2.7-liter 310 horsepower four-cylinder mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This engine gets about 20 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway and offers about 9,500 pounds of towing capacity.
The other engine options include:- 5.3-liter 355 horsepower V8 with a 10-speed automatic transmission
- 6.2-liter 420 horsepower V8 with a 10-speed automatic transmission
- Turbocharged 3.0-liter 305 horsepower six-cylinder diesel engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission
As for the various fuel economies, the EPA estimates the two V8 models get about 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg. Meanwhile, the new diesel engine gets around 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
Design
The recent overhaul of the Silverado 1500 brought significant changes to the model's cabin. Trims like the Work Truck, for example, offer basic features like manually adjustable front seats, manual locks, and windows, with a 6.5-foot bed. While higher trims offer more impressive and upscale amenities like leather upholstery, open-pore wood trim, a host of tech, and an optional eight-foot bed.
Technology
Every Silverado 1500 comes with a host of standard equipment to keep drivers entertained on their travels. Standard in all models is a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a mobile hotspot.
In higher trims like the LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss a larger 13.4-inch touchscreen is available. With this larger screen, a Google-powered voice assistant, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration are offered.
Additionally, shoppers can also find features such as a bed-view camera, heated rear seats, a navigation system, and an advanced trailering system.
Safety

In trims such as the LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, standard features include a surround-view camera system, trailer view camera system, trailer blind-spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic monitoring with automatic braking. For safety features like adaptive cruise control, head-up display, or bed-view camera, shoppers will need to pick up the LTZ, High Country, or the optional Technology Package.
